There are risks envolved when you sexualize the public space and a lot of engaged people feel powerless when the limits keeps pushing forward. But not the activist and comedian Julie Gale from Australia, the founder of Kids Free 2B Kids. She walked in dressed like a ”Lolita” and said that all of us can make a difference.
– Bite back! Act and drive a campaign! We have had several petrol companies to completely remove the porn from every gas station in all of Australia.
The filmmaker and author Jean kilbourne from America talked about how grown up women looks like ”Lolitas” and how little girls is dressed up like sexy grown ups.
– They send out mixed messages that have one thing in common: objectification. Everywhere young girls sees the message ”Be available and expect nothing in return”. The purpose though is not to increase the interest for sex, but for shopping.
Today, wednesday, it is the Ander foundation journalism day at Karlstad university with it's own programme concerning the subject, all in Andersalen.
The keynote speeches, in Aula Magna, concerns ”Children, ethics and the news: A prictical approach to resolving ethical dilemmas involving children” presented by Milliam Bird from South Africa and ”Growing up in digital world” presented by David Buckingham from London, England.
